Test shoot: derscription

The photos below are from our test shoot. We decided have a test shoot with our actress so we could fully understand what we were working with. We took pictures of Connie (Jess) in her room, so  we could understand the atmosphere we are trying to create. The mise en scene in the shots are clear and develop strong characterization of our character. We put Connie in a girly dress and this suggests her happy-go-lucky nature.

Jess decides to go with the Polka dot dress, with some boots, a tote bag and cute, child-like plaits. In this shot she checks her phone, forever distracted and in her own world.

We want our establishing shot, to be of Jess waking up in bed; so we took some photos of Connie
to see what the set would look like.

We took a photo of Connie applying make up because this is a shot we would like to include in our opening sequence. The photos of Connie in her dress really helped us build her character.
We then took a photo of Connie with different hairstyles again also being used in our characterization.

Filming

Today the 6th March we are going to take pictures of our actress Connie with different hairstyles and different costumes; so that for this weekend we are fully prepared for our filming. We want to decide on the appropriate outfit for Connie, so that our opening sequence looks believable.

Above are some pictures of our Friend Connie, who is playing Jess in our opening sequence.

further research into Rom coms

As a group we decided to do some research. Some of the films we watched were Bridget Jones Diary, 500 days of summer, Love actually. Romantic comedies are generally very light hearted and we want our opening sequence to work just as well. In our opening sequence our character Jess will fall under the stereotypical happy-go-lucky twenty something. We have decided to use our Friend, Connie to play Jess.
Charcterisation of  our character Jess
  • Brunette
  • Tall
  • Fresh faced
  • innocent
  • Stylish
  • Messy and Clumsy
  • Friendly
  • Loves to socialise
  • Loves Cats

Sound

The soundtrack for our opening is King Dinosaur Feat Anchors up- Grow up, we found it on  Soundcloud (Un copyrighted)

http://soundcloud.com/king-dinosaur

We chose this because we felt it goes with our happy-go-lucky vibe. And has references to the morning and waking up; which is our setting for our opening sequence.  The soundtrack is very lively and happy. We think this will work really well, but if editing it doesnt suit we will look for another option.

We did think about making our own music, but it was just to difficult and we didnt have enough time.
